It's a fast-paced, improvised spectacle blending "A Christmas Carol" with "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Expect humor, heart, and audience interaction. Weekend Writers Teen Workshop hosted by the Trilith Insitute
Calling all young screenwriters! Join us for a 2-Weekend Writers Workshop* to develop your own script under the guidance of screenwriting experts while building a community of creative peers. This workshop is for students ages 12-18.
Weekend 1 – December 2-3, 2023:
Students will:
- Discuss the qualities of compelling storytelling
- Analyze popular movies and television
- Develop an outline for their own original screenplay
- At the end of the weekend, students will be encouraged to go off on their own and write a first draft of their script in the 6-week window between the first and second session of the workshop series. Those who submit their drafts by January 15 will have their scripts workshopped during weekend 2.
Weekend 2 – January 20-21st, 2024:
Students will:
- Workshop their scripts (if submitted by January 15th)
- Story analysis
- Peer feedback
- Perform table reads
- Discuss next steps for writers after completing a script
- Submitting to competitions and festivals
- Pitching to producers and investors
- Going into production
- And much more
Optional Screenplay Competition:
Students may submit their revised scripts to be considered for production during a one-week production camp in the summer of 2024. The winner will receive free admission to the summer camp in which their script is produced. Scripts must be submitted by March 1 to be considered for this opportunity.
